Peachy Keen Goodness

Today the 2013 design team for Peachy Keen Stamps was announced.  I am so very blessed to be part of the new team!  Kathy J. is such a kind and generous lady.  She is a joy to design for.  Her designs are so fun to work with and her spirit shows in everything she does.  Several of my friends are on the new team once again and I look forward to getting to know all of the new ladies on the team.  With PKS, we are not only a team but we are a family!

With that being said, I had to make this little card to commemorate the occasion.  Isn't this set the cutest?  I used the PK-151 Gingerbread Bowl set.  The finished card is 5 x 7 in size.

I love using layers to create a 3 dimensional image?  It's really easy and fun to make a multi layer image.  Follow these steps:

  • Stamp the image 3 times on creamy caramel (or similar) card stock with Early Espresso ink.
  • Cut out the entire section of gingerbreads inside the bowl.  Sponge edges with chocolate chip ink.  Color the noses and tongues of the 5 gingers in the back with real red ink.  Brush pink chalk onto the cheeks.  Color the frosting on the one ginger with a white gel pen (or stamp on white, cut out and glue onto ginger like I did).  I stamped on a piece of designer paper and cut out for the 2 scarves on the gingers in the back.  You could just color it with a marker if you wanted.
  • Next cut out the section of gingers that has the 6 in front from the 2nd stamped image.  Sponge edges with chocolate chip ink.  Color the noses and tongues of the 4 gingers in the rear with real red ink.  Brush pink chalk on cheeks.  Color the frosting on the one ginger with a white gel pen (or stamp on white, cut out and glue onto ginger like I did).
  • Finally, cut out the 2 gingers in the very front from the 3rd stamped image. Color as in the previous steps.

  • Use dimensionals to layer all of the gingers.  Place middle layer onto large back layer.  Place 2 front gingers onto middle layer.
  • Select a designer paper for the bowl (I used the striped pattern).  Stamp the entire image in black and cut out the entire image (including the gingers).
  • Glue the gingers onto the bowl.
  • Select a designer paper for the bowl rim and trim (I used the pink polkadot).  Stamp image in black.  Cut out the rim and trim pieces. Sponge edges of rim piece with regal rose ink. Glue the ric rac stripe and dots onto bowl.  Attach bowl rim with dimensionals (so that the rim is even with the 2 front gingers, use a double layer of dimensionals on the rim).
Supplies used:
Recollections "The 12 Days" paper pad (striped and pink polkadot paper)
TPC Studios "Sweet Christmas Winter Treats" paper (blue polkadot)
Creamy caramel and white watercolor card stock

Early Espresso, chocolate chip, real red, regal rose ink pads
blender pen, chalk brush, pink pastels, sponge dauber, scissors, glue, dimensionals
3/8" vanilla satin ribbon, 1" robbins egg blue sheer ribbon

Farewell to the Peachy Keen Design Team Hop

Another year for the Peachy Keen Stamps design team comes to a close.  It's been a fantastic year of inspiration and getting to know all of the new design team members.  We wanted to share with you our 3 favorite projects of the year (and perhaps even a new one).  For details of the hop and a complete list of participants, you can check it out at the challenge site HERE.  My blog is the first DT stop along the way.   It was hard to pick just 3 favorites with so many fun and diverse stamps to play with this year.  These projects I thought represented my style the best.

BLOG CANDY ALERT!!  Thanks to our wonderfully generous Peachy Keen Queen, Kathy J., I will be drawing a winner from the comments for the PK-500 Snow Cuties Face Assortment!  I have always loved this set for my snowman and gingerbread faces.  To enter the drawing, just leave a comment and I will draw the winning name on Sunday.  Please be sure to leave an email if you don't have one on your commenting profile.  thanks and good luck!

My first card features the sweet angel from the very first PKS Stamp of the Month kit.  Details on the original post HERE

My second pick features a little punch art chick with an action wobble head!  He's still one of my favorite punch art characters. Details on my original post HERE.

My last pick features a sweet cottage cutz die in a new style of card called the "showcase".  Details on my original post HERE.

Ready for some more awesome projects?  Head on over to Nikki's blog HERE.

Happy Birthday Kathy

Happy Birthday Kathy!

The Peachy Keen Queen is celebrating her 29th birthday (again).  I created this little birthday penguin to mark the occasion.  He is so easy to make but looks so adorable on any kind of card!

The pennant was created using the PK-157 Pendant Banner set.   The greeting is from the December Stamp of the Month set.

Penguin Instructions:
Punch the following pieces (using Stampin' Up! punches):
Extra Large Oval in Black - BODY
Extra Large Oval in White - BELLY
1-1/4" Circle in Black - HEAD
1" Circle in White - FACE
Small Heart in Pumpkin Pie - BEAK
2 Small Ovals in Pumpkin Pie - FEET
Small Oval in Black - FLIPPERS

Overlap white oval onto black oval for body.
Cut bottoms off pumpkin ovals for feet.  Sponge edges with Cajun Craze ink.  Glue one foot onto back of body. Attach other foot on front with dimensional.
Cut small black oval in half.  Glue one half onto back of body and attach other half to front with dimensional.  Glue white circle onto black circle.
Stamp eye from PK-134 Bird Faces and More set.  Add color around pupil of eye with Island Indigo marker.  Brush pink pastels onto cheeks.
Sponge edge of small heart with Cajun Craze ink and glue onto back of head for beak.  Draw line for mouth.
Attach head to body with dimensional

Try adding a little hat or scarf to the penguin for the holidays!

Christmas Bear

Today I have a quick and fun project to share with you.  This sweet little Christmas bear was made with the Peachy Keen Cottage Cutz Tear Bear die and a handful of punches.  I love the PK-139 Tear Bear Face Parts so I substituted that for the faces that come with the die.  The faces with the die are very cute, so it's not necessary to use the other set.  But if you like the variety of eyes and noses, I highly recommend this set.  It's amazing what you can do to adapt this cutie to any holiday!  My step by step tutorial to make the bear is below.  Enjoy!

Supplies:
PK-139 Tear Bear Face Parts (optional since the die comes with a set of 4 faces)
*punches, inks and papers listed are from Stampin' Up!
Blossom punch
Full Heart punch
Boho Blossoms punch
1-1/4" Circle punch
Cupcake Builder punch (or other small circle approximately 1/8" wide)
Chocolate chip, Basic Black, Regal Rose ink pads
Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Cherry Cobbler, Shimmery White card stock (please note that the cocoa and caramel are retired - substitute for what you have)
Green and red designer papers of choice
sponge daubers, chalk brush
unibal white gel pen
dimensionals, liquid glue, scissors

Assembly:
Step 1
Die cut the bear and punch the following pieces:
Full Heart for hat (print of choice)
Boho Blossoms - 1 large flower and 4 small flowers for hat (shimmery white)
Blossom for wreath (print of choice)
12 circles for berries (cherry cobbler)

Step 2
Lightly sponge the edges of all bear pieces with chocolate chip ink.  Stamp the eyes with black ink on head.  Stamp nose onto muzzle.  Add white highlights with unibal white gel pen.  Stipple rose ink onto cheeks with chalk brush.  Glue ears and belly pieces onto body.  Stipple rose ink onto ears and belly. Attach muzzle with dimensional.  Attach arms and legs.  Make sure to position arms out for holding wreath.

Step 3
Punch 1-1/4" Circle from center of each Blossom punch.  Sponge edges with coordinating green ink (optional).  Glue flowers on top of each other, staggering the petals.  Glue berries onto wreath.  Slightly curl in sides of bear head to fit through the center of wreath and secure wreath to body with dimensionals.

Step 4
Cut top off the full heart to create curved triangle.  Attach large boho blossom to top with dimensional.  Glue small boho blossoms along bottom for trim.  Glue hat onto head, covering one ear.

12 Days of Christmas at MCT

Emma from My Creative Time is celebrating 12 days of Holiday projects!  Today I wanted to share a card I created using the adorable Christmas House stamp set.  The house stamp is 2-1/2" x 2" and the greeting is 2" long.  It's the perfect size for a greeting card!  My finished card is 6" x 6".  I could have gone smaller and the elements would have all fit but I loved the papers so much that I wanted to show as much as possible.  As usual, all of the pretty glitter isn't visible in the photo.  I wish it showed up better in pictures!

Punch Inspiration 11/14/12

Hi All! Sorry I haven't posted in a few days.  I've been working 70 hour weeks at my full time job with virtually no time to get online or craft.  I was hoping to roll out a new punch class in November but it's looking less and less likely.  I do have a cute single design that I would like to roll out before the end of the month and I think that could be doable.  Thanks to everyone for patiently waiting for me.  Here is some inspiration for you!

Thankful Blog Hop

Today I join the fabulous Peachy Keen design team and alumni on a blog hop.  We are celebrating all that we are thankful for!  Not only am I thankful for my family and friends, but I'm also thankful to be sharing my creations with all of you.  I'm thankful for all of my dedicated readers that visit often and especially all of you that leave so many wonderful comments.  It's been a tough year for me.  Moving and working extra long hours at my full time job hasn't left we with nearly enough time this year.  I haven't had time to create many new punch art classes for you all to enjoy.  I plan on making the new year a whole lot more productive!

If you came here from Saundra wonderful blog, then you are on the right track.  If you are just starting the hop here, you definitely want to start at the beginning.

Peachy Keen is generously giving away three $50 gift certificates!  They will be randomly drawing from the comments on several of the participating blogs.  We don't know yet which blogs that will be, so you will definitely want to visit all the stops and comment at each one to increase your chances!

I dug out my punches and nestabilities along with one of my favorite Peachy Keen face sets called PK-482 Winter Wonderland Face Assortment.  If you don't have this set yet, you should definitely add it to your collection!  The sweet little bird, snowman and kid faces in this set will melt your heart.  Look at those lashes!

Sorry I didn't have time to create a step by step tutorial for you this time.  I'm working 70 hour work weeks for the next 3 weeks and barely have enough time to eat and sleep!   For the body, I used  my Nestabilities dies to cut 4 different size scallop circles.  I rolled each into a cone and stacked them like a tree to create the body.  Cut the top of the tree off so you can tuck the head into the top.  I used the Blossom Petals Builder punch for the wings and head.  For the feet I used Boho Blossoms.  For the tail, I cut 3 large scallop circle nestabilities and layered the pieces.  Cut the sides off to create tail.  Cut a slit in back of body and tuck tail into slit. Hand cut a waddle for his face and stamp and pop the beak on top of it.

Peachy Keen November 2012 Release

I love Christmas and winter stamps!  The November SOTM stamp release from Peachy Keen Stamps is no exception.  The sweet elves and reindeer along with the wonderful greetings will make you completely fall in love with this set!

Check out my first creation using the November 2012 Stamp of the Month set.  Isn't this reindeer the cutest?  All of the fantastic papers and ribbon are from the November Peachy Picks kit.  Both of the November kits go beautifully together!  I actually dug out my copics for this one.  I'm still learning how to use them, so please don't laugh too hard at my coloring skills.  It would help if I had a wider range of colors.

For this card, I used the new set PK-147 Skatin' by which features the most adorable ice skating snowman and penguin along with some fantastic greetings.  You'll definitely want this set in your collection!  Once again, I used the gorgeous papers from the November Peachy Picks kit.

Please head on over to Peachy Keen Stamps on Monday to see all of the wonderful new stamps!  PKS is offering a great discount on the new stamps, so it would definitely be the best time to buy them all!
