Silly Bat

Oh how I love these silly creatures!  This silly bat is pretty easy to make.  See the instructions below.  I made a spiral pop up card.  The basic instructions are in the SCS Resource Library HERE.  I glued 2 circles together before cutting the spiral so that the spring was a little more sturdy.  Details on the ghost and ghoul on the inside of the card is detailed below.

Bat instructions:
1) Punch 2 of the 2-Step Owl bodies in black.  Cut about one third off of the bottom of one and round out the edges to create the head.  Cut off the horns on the other piece to create the body.  Sponge the edges with white craft ink.  Attach white eyeballs with dimensionals.  Punch pupils for the eyes using the largest hole on the crop-a-dile and glue on.  Add highlights to eyes and teeth with a unibal gel pen.  Attach head to body with dimensional.

2) For the wings, punch half of the 3/4" Circle punch 3 times.  Make sure they are touching each other as shown in the picture.  Line up the Wide Oval punch over the top and punch the wing.  Make 2 wings.  Sponge the edges with white craft ink.  Attach wings with dimensionals.

The cut a strip that was 12" x 1 1/2" for a belly band to wrap around the outside of the card to keep it closed.

For the inside monsters, you will be using the 2 Step Owl punch again.  For the ghost, punch 1 body and 2 of the chest pieces for the arms of the ghost.  Sponge the edges with bashful blue.  Stamp the face on using the Peachy Keen Pumpkin Faces stamp set and mount arms on the body with dimensionals.

For the ghoul, punch the owl body out of wild wasabi.  Cut off the horns and feet.  Sponge the edges with wild wasabi ink.  Stamp the face using Peachy Keen Monster Mash stamps and color in eyes and teeth with white uni ball gel pen.  Punch another owl body out of early espresso.  Cut off the top of the head and the bottom of the body.  Mount those on the backside of the wasabi piece with dimensionals.  Punch 2 of the branches out of wild wasabi.  Cut off all leaves except the end leaf.  Clip a wedge out of the center of the petal to create fingers.  Glue the arms on body.

Punch 3 black bats and add eyes with a unibal gel ink pen.  Mount all figures on the spiral spring with glue dots.  Make sure they life flat when the card is closed.  Put belly band around card to keep it closed.
