Gone a long while

Hello all, I'm so sorry I haven't posted an update in a long time.  Thanks to everyone that continue to check my blog and have asked if I'm ok.  Recently I made the hard decision to get a divorce.  My life has taken a complete turn on it's head!  I haven't had the desire or inclination to create lately.  I stepped back from my design team work for Peachy Keen Stamps.  Kathy is a wonderful friend and has been very understanding.  I haven't left the team officially, but I'm taking a break for a while until I can get my life back into order!

Anyone that has gotten divorced knows this is a long arduous process.  I can't say for sure when I'll resume posting on a regular basis (or at all).  I do have a triple tier easel card tutorial coming up in June on Splitcoast Stampers so I will be sharing that down the road.  I'm hoping my mojo and desire to create come back.  I miss sharing with all of you!

EDIT:
Thank you to all of the wonderful people who have commented and emailed me their support.  I appreciate all of you.  Thank you for continuing to visit my site even though I haven't posted in a long while.  I hope to be creating and sharing with all of you in the near future!

Peachy Keen & Freckled Fawn

For the past 4 days, Peachy Keen Stamps has teamed up with the folks at Freckled Fawn to bring you peeks at their fun products.  Today, my project features the Woodgrain Washi tape which works great for embellishments but is also great for paper piecing.  First I laid down strips of tape on vanilla cardstock then I stamped my image on top.  You can stamp on the tape and it doesn't smear.  It is very versatile.  I pieced the flames from the PK-167 Rocket Blast stamp set.  The woodgrain tape actually looks like flames!  Pretty cool, huh?  Check out the other projects the girls on the design team made HERE.

PKS Color Challenge

This weeks challenge for Peachy Keen was to create a project using this color scheme.  At first I wasn't sure what to do but then I thought it would go perfectly with a little punch art bear.  I used my new favorite face set PK-170 Teddy Bear Faces.  Aren't these the cutest?  Check out the other projects by the design team at the challenge site HERE.

Punches used:
1-3/4" Circle - HEAD
1" Circles - EARS
3/4" Circles - INSIDE EARS
2-1/2" Circle - BODY
Extra Large Oval - BELLY
Small Ovals - PAWS

Notice the pretty button on  my card?  I recently discovered a great place for unusual and beautiful buttons.  The site is called Lots of Buttons.  For my card I used a button called Carylon.  I love their wooden buttons. You should check it out.  They have some great embellishments!

Please note, I've been getting a LOT of spam comments lately.  I will be turning on word verification for a few days until it comes down in volume.  THANKS

Fruity Punch Art

I was inspired to create some fruity punch art to go along with the new Peachy Keen fruit sentiment sets. PK-162 Fruit Sentiments One and PK-164 Fruit Sentiments Two are perfect matches!

Three of my cards are 4 x 4 in size and the lemon card is 5 x 4.  For the step by step instructions of the fruit, please see the bottom of my post.

Fruit Instructions:
Punch the following pieces for the apple:
(2) Extra Large Ovals (Cherry Cobbler)
(2) Small leaves from Blossom Petals Builder (Certainly Celery)
hand cut stem (Chocolate Chip)

Punch the following pieces for the lemons:
(3) Small Ovals (So Saffron)
(6) Jewelry Tags (So Saffron)
(6) Small leaves from Blossom Petals Builder (Certainly Celery)

Punch the following pieces for the cherries:
(3) 3/4" Circles (Cherry Cobbler)
(2) wings from Bird Builder punch (Certainly Celery)
(3) stems from Bird Builder punch (Chocolate Chip)

Punch the following pieces for the watermelon:
(2) Extra Large Ovals (Garden Green)
(2) Large Ovals (Cherry Cobbler)

Apple Assembly:
Overlap ovals and glue in place.  Sponge edges with Cherry Cobbler ink.  Glue stem on top.  Fold leaves in half and sponge center crease with Wild Wasabi ink.  Sponge edges of leaves with wasabi ink and glue to top of apple.  Add white highlight with unibal gel pen.  Use small flower or circle punch to punch bite mark at top (optional).

Lemon Assembly:
Sponge edges of all saffron pieces with More Mustard ink.  Cut bottom half of each jewelry tag off.  Glue on each end of small oval.  Fold leaves in half and sponge center and edges with wild wasabi ink.  Glue 2 leaves onto end of each lemon.  Add white highlights with unibal white gel pen.

Cherries Assembly:
Sponge edges of circles with Cherry Cobbler ink.  Fold leaves in half and sponge fold and outer edges with garden green ink.  Trim leaves off stems and group together.  Glue leaves at the top. Glue cherries onto stems and add white highlights with white gel pen.

Watermelon Assembly:
Sponge edges of green ovals with garden green ink.  Sponge edges of red ovals with white craft ink.  Glue red oval onto center of green oval.  Cut a little less than half off the top of each oval.  Hand draw the seeds onto one piece.  Cut the other piece into thirds and draw seeds on.

My New Favorite Face Stamps

Peachy Keen just came out with a mid month release of stamps and I am in LOVE!  Kathy just came out with a whole new set of faces called PK-170 Teddy Bear Assortment.   I love bears and these faces are just what I needed for my future punch art projects!  There is also a great assortment of greetings that were created to coordinate with the faceless fruit and veggies stamp sets.  Check it out!  Click on the photos to go to the details page on PKS.

The following word sets are perfect for the faceless fruit and veggies stamp sets here:

This set would go perfectly with some Action Wobble Springs.

PKS Challenge Anything Goes

This week's Peachy Keen Challenge is to create anything using some new crafting goodies.  Since this month has an awesome release of new stamps, I just had to use some of my new favorite stamps and some digi paper.

I had a stock pile of hinged CD tins that work perfectly for the hershey mini candy bars.  Just wrap the bars with some decorative paper and line up in the tin.  Wrap a ribbon around the box and tie a bow (optional) and then decorate the top and bottom of the box (this will hold the ribbon in place).

I pieced the bear from a new add-on set coming out tomorrow from Peachy Keen Stamps.  The greeting on the heart is from the January Stamp of the Month set.  The pink and caramel plaid paper is from a new digital paper set I bought online.  This is the first time I've ever printed designer papers.  I love how this looked printed on vanilla card stock.  Check out the paper HERE.

Here is a side shot.  I layered the bear head, feet, heart and paws with dimensionals.

Punch Inspiration 1/2/13

I realized this morning that I forgot to post and wish everyone a happy new year!  Thank you everyone for continuing to visit my blog and commenting.  I appreciate every one of my readers and customers!  I know it's been a pretty light year for new punch art classes.  One of my resolutions this year is to get back on the ball.  I have so many ideas and it never seemed like I had enough time to put it all together. I promise to make more of an effort to continue giving you lots of punch art inspiration!

Pocket Card Tutorial

This month's Peachy Keen Stamp of the Month set is my favorite SOTM to date.  I just LOVE the sweet little bear and faces in this set.  Today I'm going to show you how to create a pocket card with the added dimension of the sweet little bear head and paws.

Supplies Needed:
Peachy Keen January 2013 Stamp of the Month set
Close to Cocoa (or other brown) card stock
Creamy Caramel (or other caramel) card stock
Pink Pirouette (or other light pink) card stock
Designer papers of choice (double sided works best)
Coordinating card stock
Corner Rounder
Basic Black, Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose ink pads
Unibal white gel pen, dimensionals, sponge daubers, chalk brush, glue, blender pen
Paper cutter, score board, scissors, sticky strip (or other strong adhesive)

Step 1
Cut a double sided designer paper  5" x 8-3/8".  On long side, score at 5-3/8".  On short side, score at 1/2" and 4-1/2".  Cut off 1/2" wide sections on each side down to the bottom section as shown.

Step 2
Fold bottom of paper upwards at score line, wrap tabs around and to the back and secure with sticky strip to create pocket.  Corner round the top corners of pocket.  Cut a piece of coordinating card stock for backing 4-1/8" x 5-1/2. Corner round 2 top corners.  Mount onto back of pocket.  Decorate front of pocket.

Step 3
Cut a tag 3-1/2" x 5" from card stock or designer paper.  Corner round 2 top corners.  Punch hole in top center of tag and add a ribbon for a pull.  Put tag in pocket.

Step 4
Stamp bear head 2 times with black ink onto cocoa card stock.  Stamp muzzle with black ink onto caramel card stock.  Stamp bear head with black ink onto pink card stock.  Stamp paws with black ink onto cocoa card stock.

Cut out entire head on first bear.  Cut out only face on second bear.  Cut out ear centers from pink piece.  Cut out muzzle and paws.  Sponge edges of all cocoa and caramel pieces with chocolate chip ink.  Sponge edges of pink ear pieces with regal rose ink.  Stamp nose and mouth onto muzzle.  For added dimension, stamp again onto caramel card stock and cut out nose.  Mount nose with dimensional onto muzzle.  Stamp eyes onto face piece.  Add whites to eyes with gel pen.  Attach muzzle to face with dimensional.

Glue pink ear pieces onto ears of full head piece.  Attach face to head piece with dimensionals.  Stamp bow onto designer paper 2 times.  Cut out entire bow on one.  Cut out only center on other.  Sponge edges of bow with coordinating ink.  Add center of bow to whole bow with dimensional.  Glue bow onto bear head.

Attach bear head and paws with dimensionals to tag in pocket.  Position so that head and paws overlap pocket edge slightly.

Step 5
Remove tag from pocket and stamp greeting on tag.

January Peachy Keen Release

This month's new release of Peachy Keen Stamps is near and dear to my heart.  I love teddy bears and this month, it's all about the bears!  Kathy has created a super cute collection of bears and greetings to warm your hearts.   All of the new sets will be revealed on Saturday at the release party.  Until then, check out some sneak peek projects at the design team bogs.

My first project features a bear and greeting from the January Stamp of the Month set.  This bear is perfect for paper piecing!  His little stitched jammies can be made up in any color combo.  And the faces in this month's set are by far my favorite faces to date!  Isn't this the cutest sweetest face?

Here is a side shot of his head.  I stamped and cut out an additional head and some hair and layered with dimensionals for a 3-d look.  I also stamped and cut out extra feet and mounted with dimensionals.

Believe it or not, there is no coloring involved!  The bear body and head was stamped on Crumb Cake card stock, cut out and the edges were sponged with Crumb Cake ink.  The sponging adds the shading around the edges.  The cheeks are pink chalk brushed on.  Don't forget the white gel pen to color in the eyes!  The whites of the eyes and highlighting are very important.  Ear centers and heart were stamped on pink pirouette card stock, cut out and sponged with really red ink.

For my second card, I created a pocket with a bear peeker.  The step by step tutorial for this card will be on my blog tomorrow so please come back for the details.
